The Stonehouse Shoot,

Rushlake Green, near Heathfield, East Sussex:

A well established pheasant shoot in the heart of Sussex also known as The Rushlake Green Shoot. Well known locally, you can learn about the shoot here or take up their offer of shooting and find out what it is like first hand.
John Carr, also the owner of The Hoddern shoot, applies the same philosophy here: good sport comes first but never at the expense of a relaxing day out in good company.
From the early season, when you wonder if it really is winter, through the misty mid-season to those spine crackingly cold and snowy days in January, the team at Stonehouse provide excellent shooting every day.
The shoot also provides a great variety of shooting; from drives in and around mature woodland that could not be anywhere other than The Sussex Weald to open drives that, at first blush, might be mistaken for the high downs shooting provided by her sister shoot.
(Early morning ghosts fly the line)
A normal day runs as follows:
We meet at 9am at The Stonehouse Hotel, the quiet family run Hotel at the heart of the estate, for a cup of tea or coffee and move off at 9:15.
There are three drives before lunch with a break between the second and third drives.
Lunch is held in the manor house.
There will be one or two drives in the afternoon.
The finishing time depends on the time of year and can be confirmed at booking.
The usual bag size is 250 birds with 300 bird days being normal and even larger days a possibility.
These prices include lunch and the usual hospitality but if you want anything extra, including loaders, a spare gun, different food and drink or even transport to a peg for less mobile guns this can be arranged.

 Shooting For Single guns?

There is some availability for single guns but it is limited as the syndicate is very settled.  If you have a part team there are more possibilities and there are still several whole days available.

 A Special Invitation:

Have you just moved to the area or are you looking for a new venue?  Come as a single gun or visit the shoot before the season starts and we will show you the shooting and how we will look after you.
We  think that we have something special at Stonehouse but come along and find out for yourself.
(At such long range the pheasant thought that it was safe.)

So what else is on offer at Stonehouse?

We also offer some of the best duck shooting in The South-East of England.  This duck shooting is not for the faint hearted and will challenge most guns and our regulars come back year after year, just for a days challenge.

And what else?

The Stonehouse Hotel can accomodate whole teams of guns in luxurious surroundings, making it easy for teams from the rest of The UK and the rest of The World to enjoy The Stonehouse Shoot.
(A happy keeper picks up at the end of the drive.)

"And Finally",

It can be difficult to describe "The Atmosphere" on a day shooting, so I hope the following photos give a taste of what to expect from The Stonehouse Shoot.
